Etsy - Share Your Love with Citymeals-on-Wheels 2012

There is so much love on Etsy! Once again, Etsy decided to share the love with a project they're calling Special Delivery. This Valentine's Day, Etsy is again teaming up with Citymeals-on-Wheels to bring nutritious meals, handmade greeting cards and companionship to thousands of home bound elderly New Yorkers.


Want to be involved? Great, we need your help to supply the cards. Citymeals-on-Wheels serves over 18,000 people, so we need as many as we can get. There are two ways to do this. The first is to make your own card and fill it out with a nice message.  See Etsy's post HERE for more info.)

And second, if you don't have time to make cards, or you live far, far away and think your cards won't make it to New York in time for the Tuesday, February 7, 2012 deadline, you can buy them from me HERE and I will ship them for no charge! (I'm in New Jersey.) The deadline for Etsy to receive the cards is Tuesday, February 7, 2012. I will have this listing till Thursday, February 2, 2012. Please note the owls may vary slightly(in color) than what's shown.

Etsy buyers, with your purchase of these Valentines, I will include a note with your Etsy Username and ID# so that YOU (not me, although I'm sending in my own Valentines) will be credited with sending in the cards you purchase here.

Then comes Special Delivery! Etsy collects all the cards and brings them to Citymeals-on-Wheels, where each will be delivered along with a meal on Valentine's Day. Several of the Etsy admin will be volunteering that day tromping around the city with hot meals and friendly conversation to brighten the day of local seniors.

Etsy's Handmade Holiday Workshop at West Elm in Princeton, NJ

Last week West Elm hosted a Handmade Holiday Workshop and Etsy Mini Market at every single West Elm store.

Guests were encouraged to create origami ornaments to take home or add to West Elm's tree as part of their ornament and gift/food drive to support local charities.

I was at the Princeton, NJ West Elm with a few EtsyNJ members helping to coordinate the workshop.

The decorated tree, food and gifts were donated to the local charity, Mercer Street Friends Food Bank.

It wasn't crazy busy but there was enough traffic to keep us busy.  West Elm even provided snacks and drinks!

I met many wonderful Etsy buyers and sellers that night.  A special shout out to Etsy seller, Geralyn of Greetings from Geralyn, who braved nasty traffic and a long ride just to join us!

Did you see the Royal Wedding?  I loved it!!  Amidst all the sadness in the world, it was nice to see two young lovers unite in holy matrimony.  Reminded me of my wedding day to my own romantic prince :o)

February 1st already? Have you missed me? I've been working round the clock with record sales at Cara's Scrap 'N Stamp Art! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. My kids just love when I play my Irish Christmas music!! (That's a joke...they run out of the kitchen screaming like little girls!)

Friday Favorites from Etsy: Peacock Wedding

Are you wondering why I picked Peacock Wedding for the fav today? Tomorrow is my 17th wedding anniversary (yay!) and I was thinking back to that special day.  Not that peacocks had anything to do with my wedding, I just love how colorful they are and teal was a dominant color in my wedding.  The maids (as we liked to say back then) wore black velvet dresses with iridescent teal removable skirts.  My mother made all dresses and  I can barely sew a button on.  Anyway, while perusing Etsy's handmade goodness, I came across these beauties that if I had seen 17 years ago, would have been a lovely addition to our special day.
