Celebrate with Cupcakes and a Contest at EtsyGreetings!

Cupcakes....yummy, sweet, fun! We won't be having cupcakes but tomorrow we're celebrating the birthday of my oldest son. He's tired of hearing me talk about the day he was born, the first time we laid eyes on each other and how much I love him. But when he gets up today, his last day being 8, I'll tell him again. It's one of my best moments in life. Happy Birthday!!

Who likes contests? Head over to Etsy Greetings to vote on your favorite card for this month's Easter challenge. We welcome all readers and members to vote and leave a comment on their favorite card. PRIZE: A readers comment will be choosen at random and they will receive the card that receives the most votes. This will be shipped to them FREE OF CHARGE. I didn't enter as it was too hectic around here this month but take a peek and support my teammates. The cards are so cute!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

An empty house

I'm at a loss for words today after suddenly losing our beloved pet, Comanche. In December 2000, we found him through www.Petfinder.com a fabulous site that matches you to a pet that's just right for you. And just right he was. He was 3 1/2 years old, 125 lbs (yes, very overweight) and just the sweetest, most loving dog. Alex was only 9 months old when we got Comanche but the dog was smart enough to be ever so gentle around baby Alex and all his friends. Comanche wasn't always fun to play fetch with since he'd never return anything he fetched but he loved unconditionally and always had a wag for anyone he saw. Despite his recent arthritis, he managed to sneek naps on the living room couch when we weren't around. I realize now that we've been in our house for 11 years and this is the first time I've ever been alone here.

Ruff Day?

This card is for the sk032109 Card Sketch Challenge over at Paper Craft Planet. Wanna play? Click here for more details.

I made this for my 4 yr old who was having a "ruff" week. He fell in a store (ok, the scrapbook store) and ended up with a black eye. Two days later, he's at the park and gets pounced on by an unleased pit bull puppy who wanted to play! He's fine, thankfully!!! Sadly, we are awaiting news on our doggy who's in the hospital on an IV after a night of throwing up. He's having a "ruff" day, too.

Happy Spring and Etsy Greetings

Wishing you all a happy spring! We woke up to snow yesterday on the first day of spring. The boys were so excited but it was a quick snowfall and then sun. Our plants are beginning to come back to life and I'm realizing how much work needs to be done in the front and back yards. I'm looking forward to cleaning it up but we have deer in our neighborhood and they've found my shrubs to be quite tasty so it's going to be a challenge to keep them away.

I recently joined the Etsy Greeting street team at Etsy and you can check out their blog site here. We are a dynamic team of greeting card artists who collaborate to promote our artisanship through Etsy.com. Our goal is to become the number one resource for buyers seeking quality handmade cards. Lots of talent, go take a peek. If you go to the Etsy site, you can search on "Etsy Greetings" to find us or you can link to the shops directly from the blog site.

Here's a recent Mother's Day card that I made. I can still surprise my mom with it since she doesn't surf the net. You can surprise your mom with it by clicking here to link to the shop listing. Have a great weekend!

The Sisterhood Award

Hope you all had a fun St. Patrick's Day! I should mention that we are not in Ireland...it's just wishful thinking on my part. The foggy photo from yesterday was taken in August 2006. It was my dream to be in Ireland on a certain milestone birthday (uh, 29, that's it!) and after thinking about it for 5 years, I was happily sipping a Guinness in a Dublin pub surrounded by family and friends on my birthday. Sláinte!

But today, I send many thanks to Crystal of Pampered Papier for my first blog award, the Sisterhood Award! Please be sure to check out her Etsy shop where you will find beautiful paper crafts and really cool recycled notepads. Take a peek at her blog for some great information and more photos of her work.

Now it's my turn to share the award with other great blogs. This is how it works:

1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate at least 5 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude!
3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

My nominees are:

Heather-Card Creations
Karen Faulkner Art
Rose Works Jewelry

The Six o'Clock Stitch

Adore by Nat

Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and talent! Wishing you all a fun filled day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Ireland

As you see, it was a bit foggy when we visited Croagh Patrick, Co. Mayo. It about 5 miles from Westport where we were staying. It was one of the most beautiful areas we'd been to during our "heritage" tour. St. Patrick fasted for 40 days and nights on this mountain.

So on this day and always, may the good St. Patrick bring you each blessing that endures and may his spirit evermore abide with you and yours.

Easter Peeps!

Peep!
Originally uploaded by Cara's Scrap 'N Stamp Art
Peep, peep, Eastertime is coming! Here's one of a few Easter cards available in my Etsy shop and you can see more here. This little chickie and the patterned paper is irridscent so there's a soft shimmer to it. The chickie is on dimensionals so he "pops" off the card front. In case you hadn't noticed, I love dimensional tape; it adds depth and interest to any project. Happy Monday!!

And the winner is...

Lady Dawn!! Lady Dawn was chosen to win the set of 5 "Bunny Hop Note Cards." Thanks to all for participating, for your kind comments and e-mails and following the blog. I look forward to having you come back again for comments, inspiration or maybe even another win!

Tomorrow is Friday so may your troubles be less and your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door! I've got St. Patrick's Day in mind as I prepare for our annual feast.

Etsy Inspired Challenge EIC26

This altered journal was inspired by this weeks Etsy Inspired Challenge and you can find details here at Heart Hugs Designs blogspot. The inspiration was the Dino Stack Vinyl Wall Art Decal that you can see here at Expressing You's Etsy shop. The dinosaur wall art reminded me of my boys who have been growling a lot lately just for fun. Since my husband and son just put together a new desk and chair for his room, I thought a dinosaur journal would be perfect for a boy who enjoys making his own comics, loves to draw and always has a pen in hand.

There's still time to enter the drawing for the Bunny Hop Notecards!! Good luck. We'll be picking a winner later today.

I'm excited to share with a lucky winner a set of 5 3x3 Bunny Hop Note cards. The edge of the tags is sponged with pink to highlight the bunny juggling his eggs. The inside is blank so you can add your own special message. Here's how anyone can enter to win the set:

1. Hop on over to my Etsy shop (it's so easy to get there, just click on the photos on the right side) and return to this blog to leave a comment on your favorite item or something you'd like to see in my shop. This will earn you one entry in the giveaway.

Please make sure you leave an e-mail or blog address so that I can contact you if you are a winner. When my preschooler gets home from school Thursday, he'll choose one lucky winner. Thanks for participating and good luck!!

Luck of the Irish
