Want to be involved? Great, we need your help to supply the cards. Citymeals-on-Wheels serves over 18,000 people, so we need as many as we can get. There are two ways to do this. The first is to make your own card and fill it out with a nice message (see http://www.etsy.com/storque/craftivism/special-delivery-share-your-love-2010-6871/#comment-230786).
Mail it to:

And second, if you don't have time to make cards, or you live far, far away and think your cards won't make it to New York in time for the Tuesday, February 9, 2010 deadline, you can buy them here and I will ship them for no charge! (I'm in New Jersey.) The deadline for Etsy to receive the cards is Tuesday, February 9, 2010. I will have this listing til Friday, February 5, 2010. Please note the owls may vary slightly in color than what's shown.
Special Delivery for Citymeals On Wheels - Set of 3 Mini Cards
Etsy buyers, with your purchase of these Valentines, I will include a note with your Etsy Username and ID# so that YOU (not me, although I'm sending in my own Valentines) will be credited with sending in the cards you purchase from Cara's Scrap 'N Stamp Art.
Then comes Special Delivery! Etsy collects all the cards and brings them to Citymeals-on-Wheels, where each will be delivered along with a meal on Valentine's Day. Several of the Etsy admin will be volunteering that day tromping around the city with hot meals and friendly conversation to brighten the day of local seniors.
***NOTE: Thank you to those who participated in Etsy's Special Delivery for Citymeals on Wheels in NY in 2009! If you purchased cards from me last year, your Etsy username and ID were sent in along with your cards. You are still being featured on a Special Delivery page that last year was linked from a banner on the Etsy home page. http://www.etsy.com/special_delivery.php Thanks for sharing your love! The page regenerates so have fun clicking on it.
Let's put a smile on someone's face! Happy Valentine's Day!!
I almost forgot...speaking of love, it was today many years ago (cough, cough) that my husband and I got engaged at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. It was such big news it made the Channel 6 evening news and the Philadelphia Daily News the next day. Awwww...

What a fantastic opportunity. As Director of one of the 16 Area Agencies on AGing here in Indiana, and in charge of all of the intakes and annual assessments of people receiving Meals on Wheels, I have to say that this is a WONDERFUL way to bring some sunshine into an older adult's day...the Meals on Wheels may be the only person they see.
how cool! i just love etsy and will definitely be helping out !
xoxo
